A Recent TYL Job
Furniture Store Restoration in Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA
Disaster struck the Furniture Warehouse last month when a delivery truck ran into their warehouse, destroying their doorway and part of the wall! Luckily, TYL was on the job and was ready to repair and update their space.
On the exterior of the warehouse, TYL repaired the damage by installing new metal siding, new doors and a new window. Inside, TYL pulled up the existing carpet and buffed out the concrete underneath. This made it much easier for employees to move and store inventory! The TYL team also installed a new heating and A/C unit, which ensures the employees’ comfort.
Both the client and everyone at TYL are thrilled with the results!
Keeping Your Home Cool This Summer: A How-To Guide
Keeping Your Home Cool This Summer: A How-To Guide
Summer is upon us, and you can definitely feel it! It’s only the beginning of July and already temperatures are climbing into the 90’s. So, the question on everyone’s mind is- how do we keep cool this summer? Well, TYL has a few tips and tricks- read on to find out!
No A/C? No Problem!
A home without A/C may never be compared to the arctic tundra, but here are a few ways to keep cool this summer:
- Close your blinds! The sunlight that streams through your windows throughout the day can raise the temperature inside your home by 20 degrees!
- Invest in a grill. During the summer, cooking on a stove top or in the oven will flood the house with heat. Cooking on a grill will keep the heat where it belongs- outside!
- Do you still use incandescent bulbs? Those bad boys give off a lot of heat, so switch them out for energy saving ones. Your family (and the planet) will thank you!
Have an A/C? Let’s make sure that it stays functional!
Your A/C works hard during the summer months! Follow these tips to make sure that its “keeps it’s cool” when you need it most:
-
Change your air filter often. By doing so, you reduce a lot of the burden on your system. A dirty or clogged filter makes your air conditioner work too hard. Regular filter changes will also lower your utility bill!
-
Make sure all your doors and windows are properly sealed to help keep your home cool.
-
Clean the coils and fins of your unit! Leaves and other debris sometimes accumulate around your unit. If obstructions are present, your unit must work harder to function than it should. You can clean your unit with a regular garden hose and a broom.

A Family Reunited!
Brent, one of our co-owners, and his wife Peggy, our Financial Administrator, are happy to have their family reunited after a long time apart! Their daughter Amanda, her two children, Mariano and Noelle, and her husband have been living in South Korea where her husband is serving in the U.S. Military. COVID has prevented the family from seeing each other. Thankfully Amanda and her children recently received the “okay” to come and visit for a whole two months! They are all having a blast spending time together and Peggy and Brent love being able to finally spoil their grandchildren!
