Breezy Bathroom Remodel in Oakton, VA
Take a look at this recently completed bathroom remodel out of Oakton, VA! The client had a functional bathroom but wanted to update look of her space. The TYL team replaced the existing shower/tub combo, installed a custom shower niche, added new tiling, new flooring, replaced all fixtures (lighting, bath fixtures and mirror), installed a new vanity, and added a custom backsplash that extended behind the toilet and vanity.
The finished product is absolutely gorgeous! The blue walls create a calming atmosphere while the white tile brightens the room. The tiling of the shower and backsplash includes a stunning textured element- like ocean waves- and the tile in the custom shower niche plays wonderfully off the existing color palette. All of this combines to create a bathroom that is visually stimulating while maintaining a laid-back ambiance.
Both the client and everyone at TYL are thrilled with the results!

Let’s Talk Careers in the Construction Industry!
Whether you have a high school diploma, GED, associate’s degree, bachelor’s or even a master’s degree, there is a place for everyone within the construction industry. It is a rewarding, fast paced and diverse field that we at TYL encourage you or your loved ones to consider when selecting a career. Below are a few of the many different types of careers available in construction. Each requires a different level or type of experience and education. We hope you find this insight valuable as you pursue your future endeavors!
Laborer
A laborer is a diverse term for someone who works on the ground at a construction site. This is a great position for someone who has a limited background in construction and wants to learn on the job. The usual requirements for a laborer include a GED and a reliable form of transportation, although this varies by company. When pursuing a career as a laborer, make sure that the companies you are applying to value continued education so that you can accrue knowledge and advance within the position. Many people who start as laborers become electricians, plumbers, carpenters, or project managers through a combination of on-the-job learning and professional trade education.
Kitchen and Bath Designer
If you consider yourself creative, artistic, and personable, becoming a kitchen and bath designer may be for you! Although you can pursue this career by attaining a bachelor’s degree in Design, it isn’t necessary. The National Kitchen and Bath Association provides online courses that are a more affordable alternative to higher education. While taking these courses (via NKBA or a 4-year college) we encourage you to look for internships with remodelers or construction firms to gain experience. After interning you may be offered a full-time position, or you can look for Junior Designer positions. Most of these positions will require some type of certification as well as 6 months of experience.
Project Manager
A project manager oversees all phases of a construction project and can at times double as a salesperson. A good project manager is personable, organized and has great attention to detail. You can obtain an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in Project Management and get your start by interning with construction firms; however many people get their start by working as a laborer or technician and working up to a management position. Depending on the size of the company you work with, you may also be expected to have some basic design and estimating skills.
